XXVI. Despite my cowardice, He loves me so

“So do not worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear?’ All these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom (of God) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.” -Matthew 6:31-33

Despite my cowardice, He loves me so

That Calvary He gladly chose to bear.

Delivered me He has, from every foe:

From academic pride and worldly care.

He always has provided for my need,

And called me back when from Him I would stray.

How is it that such Love I did not heed?

How could I know Him Life and choose decay?

How could I fail to seek first His true Reign,

Ignore how beautiful His promise grand?

I’ve no excuse for past pursuits, all vain.

I’d seen His opened side and punctured hand.

My God most merciful, my Savior sweet:

Take pity on my wandering heart and feet!
