XXX: I fear each choice I’ve made was for the wrong

“We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” –Rom 8:28

I fear each choice I’ve made was for the wrong,

See only a disaster of my making.

‘Tis instinct to look back upon years long

As though I were not blind, nor Love painstaking—

Painstaking, yes, in its sweet Providence—

To work all for the good of those who love.

Of this great truth possessing not a sense,

I trust my earthly eyes, doubt Him above.

Yet He—O Savior great!—rules everything;

Would He my ruin work from my failed past,

When in His arms my heart and past I fling,

To meet renewal in His mercy vast?

What joy awaits in Heav’n, where in His light,

Wrong turns I’ll see transformed by His great might!
